Full Version: Aftermarket Non PRC Struts

Can anyone recomend some good aftermarket struts for the TC? I something that will provide a very firm ride. My goal is to make this car handle really well. I would also like to lower it at some point and I want some struts that are up to the task.

I am also told that the steering on the TC's is sposda be pretty tight. I must say I have not been impressed so far, it seems to be a bit to loose for me. The steering on my old TC was not all that great as well

BTW it is an 88 TC

I was happy with Monroe Sensatracs until I got a parts car with working PRC and I had to put them on. [Image: smile.gif]
I would put the Monroes in between hard and soft setting of PRC's. They are comfortably good handling struts and shocks.
Steering rack should be responsive if you check left to right and watch wheels in relation to steering wheel.
If it's tight you could be experiencing tire squirm.
Low profile tires will give trick steering.
If you are looking for a very firm ride,that handles like crazy,get some KYB AGX adjustables.They will give alittle more travel after you lower it,and they are only adjustable for rebound damping,but if you are in it just to make it handle great no matter how much your passengers cry,these will be perfect for you.They are adjustable on the car also,the fronts with just the twist of a little screwdriver,the rears you just reach under and twist a big knob that you could find even in the dark,just have to count the clicks.

I could not find any KYB AGX adjustables for my application. What do I need to get? Do they make a direct bolt in for an 88TC?

hehe...My dad complains enough about my lower tires, they are a 55 series, and he is used to the 60 series on his 88...

Monroe GP's. had them on my 88 5.0 thunderbird and i loved them. also, you might want to find a set of caster/camber plates to work with these.

they're not the same....unless you use a lowering spring.
