I'm getting kind of tired of the people not using the search engine to its best ability. Before i post a topic i always look through the search engine, and it seems alot of the new topics are just same old stuff answered over and over again. I'm also kind of sick of the people making one sentenced questions, and the amount of typo's on here.
I'm probally being hypocritical because i'm sure i'm guilty of all of this, but it just gets old.
I love this Site, i love being a part of it, but it seems these things are bothering me for some reason.

Chris.
I agree with you somewhat. Although I will also say I personally am not a huge fan of the search engine. Possibly posting the tweaks this particular engine can use to narrow down the search would be useful. It seems that some boolean (and/or/=-/+ etc) does or does not work. My case in point was looking for 84 specific information that I KNOW I've read. I spent a couple hours over 2 days trying every search I could think of and still had to resort to posting what I considered was a redundant post that I should have been able to solve in the search but could not.

I think my main complaint is lack of information for me to help them. I hate to pick on individuals, but "TC runs ruff pls hlp" is annoying to me. That gives me nothing to go on. And to top it off folks take personal offense for us asking the basic questions as if we should read their mind that vacuum is 20". Sometimes I feel bad because I am unable to help someone and they are unable to convey any kind of meaningful information. Thus they get upset and leave.

So I don't mind, so much, seeing the same things over and over. What I mind is never getting the answers to my questions. Specific usable answers and specific, usable information on the problem.

I don't expect people to be a novelist. But I also don't want to see cell phone text shorthand when you have a full keyboard right there in front of you Wink .
Well, I'm very new here...But I am a moderator on a large Ford focus site ( Focus Fanatics), and we have the same issues over there. I have answered the same question MANY times.

I try to be patient and realize not everyone is computer savvy, and that new people are...well....new and don't know all the facts yet. Isn't that part of the reason why we do this? Believe me, the FAQ's this board has is VERY good and helps keep down on alot of re-asked questions. Good site!
I agree with Matt S. Try to find something like info on a Line-loc for a TC with ABS. Most of the searches come back with 95% non related info. I wish something could be done to enhance the search engine.
What difference does it really make? If you don't like a post don't respond or simply encourage that person to use the search feature. Sometimes people just like to see participation in thier own thread, just like this thread that has nothing to do Tbirds :-)

amen!
All I can say is:

-use the search (no matter what site you are on or what you are searching, it might take some time)
-use the FAQ's
-if it doesn't work out then post a topic w/specific issues (and you probabally went off on a tangent anyways learning about something you found in the search)
-type to the best of your ability

Although I started off not doing the above, I learned it and now do it.

I also like what Keith said, "...don't reply, or encourage..."

haha my $.02
guys like i said, ireally dont want to offend anyone here, and i agree with what has been said, you guys have opened my eyes a bit i just wanted to post my thoughts.

points well taken.
Actually I'm interested in seeing some of the questions revisited. Someone is always learning or trying something new and may have a better solution than what was done in the past.
B-tch, bit-h, bi-ch! Some people will b-tch if you hang them with a new rope. Not to pick on anyone in particular, but the one who started this thread has typo's in it. I am not a professional typist and even if I were mistakes are still made. I too have used the search engine and have been disapointed by the results. It has also helped lots of times. I enjoy this site and have found lots of useful info here. There are always new people joining that may not of had time to fully explore the site and are looking for info quickly so they may post a question that has been posted before; the answer may include new info that has not been seen before due to new knowledge that has been gained. In my years of life I have learned to be patient and that there is always something to be learned; even to the same old questions. Remember, there are no dumb questions. Perhaps the questioner is a newbie and does not have the vast knowledge needed to give the extensive information to give all the details. Forgive me for going on. I enjoy this site very much; it brings the very learned and rookies alike together to share info and experience. Enjoy it for that.
