Bad part: when Les got here he ran the codes, got a 21, 24, and a 28. What do these mean?
Good part: He invited me to go get some parts. We get there and for $105 i get a new header panel, interior lights, inner cornering lights and he gets a guage set and ride switch. We also got an awesome picture of me doing a smokey burnout.
Bad part: I owe him $40.
Bad part: We were leaving Becky's parent's house when Les noticed my tank an inch from the ground. D'oh, we leave my car in Grafton untill tommorrow when I will have to skip school or work to fix it.
Good part: they let me park on the side of the driveway over night.
Bad part: Les is sitting on empty and closer to home he's got no oil presure. We get to my house and there is a massive puddle of oil under his car and it's completely empty. I give him a quart and it's gone in the 1/2(or less to the station). So I buy him a tank of gas and 4 quarts of oil. While we're working another guy in a TC pulls up asks whats going on. It's a guy from this board, sorry I forgot your name already, and so Les hurries home not even stopping by my street, he just rolls past and pushes me out. Now when he gets on and sees this he can post the pictures and tell the rest of the epic.

Gee, sounds like Les is looking for another tow dolly [Image: biggrin.gif]. I just got off the phone with him. It looks like his rubber turbo oil supply line sprang a leak

Code 21 Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECT)voltage out of signal range, or you didn't have the engine at operating temperature when you pulled the codes.

Code 24 ACT (air charge temperature) sensor or VAT sensor voltage out of specification (engine off) or not at normal levels (engine running)? Which part of the test did you get the code from, KOEO, continous, or KOER? Was the engine warm when you pulled the codes?

Code 28 VAT(vane air temperature) sensor signal voltage out of self test specification. (It was less than 50* F outside today so this code would have been automatically generated.)

The engine should be at normal operating temperatures before pulling codes.

Good? Bad?

Shit. Today sucked. That's all I remember. I did get some more gauges and blah, blah, blah. I ran a high temp rubber hose as my turbo oil feed line. Well, it blew. I'll figure out why later. That on top of the rear main seal leaking and the bad rings in the motor I just put in. So, to take it apart, I have to ruin the new head bolts I just put in. - We did get a good deal on our parts today, but of course something had to go wrong! [Image: mad.gif]

Well, it will get fixed when I win the damn lottery. I can't afford this P.O.S.
Until then, F@#$ It.

Pete, the car had been sitting all night and was cold when we ran the codes, plus it was around 40 degrees out so everything is accounted for.

Les, what car do you prefer? The gold TC or the red one? I say we rip out the engine in the gold one, tear the mofo apart, see just how bad things are. We can mic things out, see what you did to the rings and go from there. I can have the engine apart in about an hour. Or, we can make a frankenstein TC. We could take your tranny and etc out of the gold one, put it in the red one, and get things going. You could also barrow the Amigo if you need to. Just don't go hitting GMC's!

Damn Les, you have some terrible luck! I think your oil supply line might have burst just because oil and rubber don't mix. Oil tends to weaken rubber hoses, that's why you never see rubber oil lines from the factory [Image: smile.gif] Why not just pirate the oil supply line from the junkyard? Good luck!
I love my TC just as much as the next guy but is it just me or do these cars break A LOT! [Image: wink.gif] For me it was like today I was drivig around the car was running great! till the motor fell out and killed some old lady.

Doesn't your TC have almost 300k miles? Keep in mind that most cars aren't even in good enough shape to sit in a junkyard at that point. [Image: smile.gif]

My TC had a bunch of little problems that I had to sort out. Random really high idle, occasional pinging, the 3500-rpm miss, etc.

My 93 Cougar, on the other hand, has never even set an EEC code. It's never stalled, missed, failed to start, or anything. But then one day I was going to lunch and it started idling like crap and blowing antifreeze out the exhaust. Whoopee, $1100 for a head gasket!

I think I prefer a bunch of little things that let you keep driving until you get around to fixing them, rather than one BIG one that won't let you put it off. [Image: smile.gif]
I don't think the problems are more than any other car their age. The YOUNGEST TC is almost 14 years old, 14 year old cars tend to have problems. I have no problems dealing with this stuff if the parts are cheap.

Thanks. I just got done TEARING off my front bumper cover, it seems that every bolt on it was rusted. Finally, I just got the pneumatic brutha to the Sawzall and cut the bumper and we're gonna get the bolts out tommorrow.

NOTHING makes you feel better than an air chisel and punching some holes in stuff
