i couldnt find your e-mail sorry i just bought a 3g for my 88tc. whats my chances of a fire im a little nervous from the heat it will produce. is there a fan i can put on it or will it be okay. is there anything i need to upgrade along with the 3g as far as my charging system goes i have a big dry cell battery. ill be running alot aof neons and a big sound system. thanks for any help
No other fans are needed. The 3G has dual internal fans, one at the front and one at the back, unlike the stock alt, which has just one external fan at the front. If you wire the 3G as outlined in the tech article, you wont have any overheating / fire problems. I have had my 3G in for almost 2 years, and I have felt the alt itself and the wiring during periods of high electrical demand (headlights / fog lights on, A/C running, both cooling fans on, etc, and the wiring never even gets warm. Neon (kind of ricey, IMO) doesnt draw that much power, so that isnt a concern. With any high powered stereo, I suggest you get one of those Lightning Capacitors... about 1/2 Farad for every 500W of power, to keep your lights from dimming in those bass punches.
