my buddy at work has a '90 ranger<sorry it's not a tc!!> with the 2.3. it is a throttle body and when he starts it up when its cold out it immediatley goes to 3000rpm and will not settle down untill it warms up. if he shuts it off before the idle is normal, it wont start again. three area "mechanics" couldn't find anything. it only happens when it is cold... thanx for the help!
Very simple - replace the mechanics [Image: biggrin.gif]. Did anybody pull the codes? What were they?

i dont think anyone pulled the codes but i will run it past him monday...i doubt any of the "mechanics" even know what that means!!
For a problem like this, the FIRST thing any mechanic should have done is pull the codes. If your mech. didnt do this right off, get a new mechanic.
