Allright. I was wondering what I would have to do to run e85.

I've heard some people say that there are no mods whatsoever needed, and I've heard others say that you need to up your fuel pressure. (Rather hard without an adjustable regulator.) And I've heard still more say that you need new fuel lines.

For a bird running at most 215 HP, would I need to do anything at all?

Can anyone give me a definite answer?
E85 burns hotter and therefore requires a richer mixture, also it WILL destroy the old rubber parts of your fuel system. Basically, you will need to update all seals in your fuel system (not quite certain what type of rubber is needed for the replacement) and make the A/F ratio a bit richer. All-in-all, not really worth it. You can, however run a diluted mixture of it- this is what I did with my Jeep for a very long time. I ran up to half regular gas/half E85, but usually did about 2/3 regular/ 1/3 E85. It worked fine in the Jeep, but I will make no recommendations as to wether or not you should try this.
I ran it for most of the summer and had no issues. I upped my fuel pressure about 10psi to compensate for the extra fuel required. I believe it runs cooler.not hotter. I noticed a definate drop in engine temps. The afr of E85 is 9.7:1. Being that its an alcohol, it carrys its own oxygen which helps make more power. The only rubber that seems affected is cheap replacement rubber lines. Original Ford lines are designed for gas-a-hol and seem to hold up pretty good. I would recommend a wideband o2 sensor to moniter the afrs till you get it set. Hope this helps. Tom
in one of the recent mustang magizen they swiched a cobra to E85 they put a an extra fule pump for more fule changed the timing the fuleinjectors for more fule and they took less energy per gallon and a diablosport flip swich to tell wether he is using regular gas or E85. bottom line they gained 20hp and torque but with that sead it would be better for turbo and supercharged car because the higher octaine less of a chance of detination

Cooler... hotter... same thing.

Either way it certainly will do an excellent job of cleaning out your fuel system!
Yeah, but alas, I lack what seems to be the only necessary component. An AFPR.

Ah well, Sunoco 94 octane it shall remain.
Running straight ethanol would destroy rubber...or rather dry it out, but since E85 isn't straight ethanol, there shouldn't be an immediate problem.
I opened up this E85 can of worms before. If I remember correctly, fellow TC'ers were going to contacting state senators,etc.Pete-Can you post the old discussion?
Theres some guys on TF that are running it and there have been quite a few discussions too. I think I saw you post there too, but a search will pull up alot of info.
