Do the intake manifolds ever leak antifreeze into the combustion chamber?
I've got the white smoke but motors runnin fine, rads still full, oils clean,... for now.
There is a coolant passage in the middle of the lower intake, between # 2 & 3 runners. I suppose it could be possible for coolant to leak to #2 or #3 if the gasket was fubared just right. I have never heard of it happening.

Why do you suspect intake manifold and not head gasket? The HG could be fubared in a way that coolant leaks to the combustion chamber but not into the oil. Might want to pop the valve cover and just check head bolt torque.
I don't suspect, I was just hoping it could be something that simple.

Runs fine, oils still clean.

Factory gasket is tin right?
Which gasket? Intake is some flexible composite, don't know exactly what it is. Head gasket is probably layered

I ran around last night and it quit doing it so the converters must have burnt all of it off.

I better fess up, this is a 90lx notch I got for my daily drive. I traded my truck and got cash back but this is what I was afraid of happening.

I dunno about this thing, it seems fine now.
This morning I blew out the cats, fabbed up a cold air intake and it runs even better now.
I love these fox cars man. This thing would be great to turbo but it's automatic.
Would the A4LD hold out to mild increase in HP, just for daily driver?
just drop a 5spd in it, i have a 86, with an 88 4cyl EFI with a 5spd, it has great pick up, but no high rev accelrationg, but torquy, i liek it, and well it hasnt given me proibems, cuz there isnt enough power.

the A4LD should hold up, drop a mild cam in, port the intakes, and get a header, that should help. i tlaked to a guy years ago abotu his lil 89lx 4, that he ported the intakes he got .3 quicker int he quarter mile, neevr heard what hsi actual tiem was, guess he wasembarassed tlaking to em cuz i have a 2.3l turbo.
The A4LD equipped TCs were rated at 155 HP. Unless you are going to go all out on an N/A 2.3, I doubt you will come close to 155 HP
Well I purposely want the auto for my daily driver, it's just a slug like it is.
Even if I ran 10lbs boost and keep care of it, I won't race, honest. [Image: wink.gif]
155 hp would be a major improvement
