Ok, I remember this site a while back that was selling downpipes and sold an exhaust dump kit. I believe they were homemade and cheap. Anyone remember it? What's the site, please help!
You mean this one, found by searching on exhaust cutout?? http://natoubb.turboford.org/Forum1/HTML/009059.html
Good try, but no. It was a 3" exhaust kit.
Look further down the page - you can select the same thing in a 3" version.
Oh no, that's not what I meant. It was a 3" exhaust system, from a downpipe to the end, and it dumped to somewhere at the rear axle. You provided your own muffler and/or cat.
The site I believe you are referring to is www.strick9customs.com The system is a 3" mandrel bent system, downpipe to side dump. You provide your own muff. and cat. I am using this system on my car now. Be aware however that the system (in my case) required a ton of modifications to make it work. Also, the welds that were done appeared to have been done by a drunken monkey, or someone attempting to weld for the first time. I was dissappointed in the quality of the system (welds and fit) for what I paid, but now that it's on I truly love the sound and the performance. Be aware also, that the exhaust hangs very low. This has not been an issue for me, but if your car is lowered, it will definately be a problem. If you are looking for something that will bolt right up, this IS NOT the exhaust for you. I really wanted a side pipe, and this was my only option for that. If you don't care about a side exhaust, I think you could get a much better kit than this one for about the same price.
Yes! That is the one, thank you very much!

What muffler and cat did you use? How much did it cost you to get all the mods done? My car IS lowered, should I still get it or just find another kit (where can I get that?)
I used a 3" in/out Summit high flow cat (you can look right through the thing) and a Dynomax UltrFlo muffler. As far as total cost, I can get you an accurate number when I can get my receipts tommorow. Bear in mind though that I had a friend/good welder do the required cuts and re-welds/hangers for relatively cheap money. This kit will require a competent welder/mechanic to fit. As far as it being lowered...you may have trouble. The size of the muffler and the lack of room under the car make it low on my stock height TC. It does not frequently hit anything (Only monstrous speed bumps) on my car, but I will not drop the car with this exhaust on. My opinion, if you have your heart set on a side exhaust this is the only kit I have ever seen. But if you are strictly looking for performance, just get a single 3" that exits at a stock location, it will probably save you some headaches. As far as where to buy another kit, I can't think of any offhand, but if you search the forum, you will get plenty of options.
Just noticed your location, needless to say this will not be CA emissions legal.
The Cat was about $60, The muffler closer to $90, plus the price of the kit itself. You will then be looking at about 5-6 hours of labor to get the exhaust hung, figure about another $250-$300. That will give you a low ball estimate of around $650 for the whole deal. If you have any other questions I'd be happy to answer them.
