Ok I have an 88 stripped down car. No options.
The drivers door and fender got hit a while back, so I bought a same color doner car but it has keyless entry. I have stripped the car and pulled the harnesses out but I was wondering if anyone has added this to their car and how hard it is to integrate. If it can be made standalone that would be great but I don't have enough info on it yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Tim
Do a search for this topic, I asked this question a few years ago and got some good replies. I think the summary impression was that "nothing is impossible, but this comes close" If you do an internet search for "Keyless Entry" you may find the company that built them for Ford, they are in California. They offer their product for aftermarket installation. It is the same as what was factory on our TC's. If I find the company I will post it. The price was around 250.00
Nice! Did I read that wrong or can you get the kit for $170?
Tbird1983: Yes that is the keyless entry module in the first couple of photos. On that white sticker (which is VERY important) should be a 5-digit number which is the code you need in order to use it. Without that code on the sticker, there is no way that I know of to find the keyless entry code without a LOT of trial and error... and error... and error.
you can find the code with otu the number by opening up the module and counting where the resistors are place on the board...... worst case...
I thought it over and I change my mind about adding the keyless entry, I'd rather not add too much crap I wont use. Can I just buy the relays I need to make the door power locks work instead? I have heard in some cars they have a relay under the passenger seat which is solely for the power locks? If so where can I buy these/ how many do i need, and is this all I will need to hook up my power locks (I have the actuators hooked up and the unlock/lock buttons on the doors hooked up).
