does the 1987 tbird tc come stock with a short throw shifter
I think maby but there are better! I say maby only because mustangs with the same t5 trany seam to have more throw.
try the riper shifter from B&M.

No. They all came with the same shifter. The SVO had a Hurst non short throw. I tried the Hurst adjustable short throw and hated it, went back to stock.

IMO, the stock TC shifter is a piece of junk. Look at how one is constructed, and you will see what I mean. My 91 5 speed Escort had a better shift feel than my stock TC shifter. Put on a TriAx, and couldnt be happier. The car is MUCH more fun to drive with a decent shifter.

I'm with Jeff on this one.
I put on a B&M (price & avail) and I wouldn't go back to the sloppy stock piece.
Shifting is crisper and more precise.
I agree with Jeff K, get the Tri-ax!

i'm going to say go with the pro5.0 or kirben shifter. pro5.0 is pricey, but it's still the best in my opinion.
I had a Pro 5.0 on my 89 Mustang LX 5.0 and I hated it. I consistently missed shifts!!! Then I went to a Tri-Ax and it was 100% better. Just my opinion.
