I was going to pull my quote from my other post in which I said, " I wouldnt pay more than $75 for a broken 140mph speedo on ebay. I'll just wait until I find another one at the jy" Guess what! I got one at the jy today!!

I usually pay only $11 for speedos(plus tax and junk), but I was in my business clothes, and didnt know the new girl at the window. It was still a good deal.

ALSO
I found a company that makes stock colored overlays of the 140, and also many other colors of your choice.
www.whitegauges.net
The overlay is $40 if you want any other color other than white. The white ones are $20. I am talking to the company to see what kind of deal she can give us if we do a group buy, and also the recalibration. Initially she said she didnt know how to do ours, but I told her that I could provide her with a link, so their techs could do it. It will be a one stop deal!

If this works, we can all have one at a great price! Keep yah posted
Do the overlays replace the stock face or just cover them up. Are they like the indiglo gauge faces or use factory lighting? I had a set of overlays a (long) while back that were totally useless at night which is when I do 70% of my driving most of the time. The dash does need a new look though...

She said, it actually uses the existing lighting. I will ask any questions to guys can think of, so we are all on the same page. Check out their site...

Read the bottom where it shows description...
It says..

Product Description

* Pictures shown are of white face overlay only, we are not selling the gauge cluster assembly.
* Computer printed and cut on vinyl plastic for an easy to install process with perfect fit.
* Needle removal is not required at all besides the clock, the white gauges easily slip over the needles.
* Stock faces are not removed, our white gauges overlay on top of them and use the stock lighting.
* Overlays do not wrinkle or bubble in the heat or cold and can be removed with direct heat if needed.
* Makes your cluster up to 50% brighter at night with stock bulbs or install our colored LED replacement bulbs for a bright glow effect.
I don't care how they go on just as long as they light up properly at night. Definitely keep us posted on this. Good find, Chip!

I went on their site and the only thing I found were the white-face overlays for 87-88 TC's which seems to be all that anybody has. Can you find out if they will do it for gauges both with and without a "firm" light as well during your exchanges?

I'll ask. Also If you get the basic black stock color you wont have to change anything but the speedo.

If you check out the rest of the site, you with see they offer lots of colors.

What I mean is will they do the 140mph speedo thing for '87-'88 speedo's with the firm light as well as earlier speedo's without it? As far as I can tell, it seems like the boost gauge on the later ones is moved a bit to the left? Don't know for sure though.
OK last question/concern... I promise sort of...
If they make a 140mph overlay the goes over the stock gauge face and uses stock lighting, then I would assume that it would not light up very well at night since the numbers won't line up. Would it be possible to remove the stock face and install the 140 in its place without the whole thing lighting up at night?
Brian, my guess is that you can sand off the original black "overlay", which is actually painted (silk screened??) on and attach the new overlay to the plexiglass / green coloring that remains after sanding off the old face. At least that is what I have done on my home made 140s, and it works well.
Newb Question, what is the 140mph spedo from? where there t-birds that came with it?
It was a Ford Motorsport part. It was usually installed by the dealer, or the original purchaser of the car. There was a whole insurance thing back in the 80's, hence the wimpy 80 mph markings on the factory installed unit...

The 140's are getting very hard to find....
