Full Version: squentials vs. a/c (problems) LONG!!

my squentials have a seriuos problem with the a/c on.
my sister followed me out of wendy's today and called me to let me knwo that:
first; my brake lights are dim hard to see and she co8ld onyl see my "center" third light
(i got a ticket about 2 weeks ago for dim brake laight, but i had added a LED third brake light behind my window tint, reason i got the ticket, but he said my tialights were dim too)but i now have two third lights, well thrid and now a foruth. plus the tialights
second; that onyl two lights were lighting up on my turnsignals
when i got home i went to check this out, put a peice of wood between seat and brake pedal to hold brake lights on and noticed they are dim,
1. what can i do about this?
2. is there a brighter buld i can put in , possible LED bulb so its brighter?

next thign i noticed

i put on one side of my squentials, yep only two are lighting up. so i turn off my a/c, three light up , perfect too. so im like great, a/c on only two,

so i put back on my a/c and tinker with the settings, it gets better .......but......... after a few minutes i hear a niosy fan , liek a second one, so assuming my high speed fan kicked on, i pop the hood, yep, its on now also.
walk back to the back of the car......................... AHHHhhhHHHhhhHHHhhh!.........................................
only one turn signal is lit!!!!!
grrrrrrr...............
so thinking, hmm maybe if bump the idle up il be fine, so i rev it to 2500 rpm using a penny between the throttle set screw and the linkage, walk to the back of the car, no real differnce,two are lit, but this sucks. so what the heck do i do?
the more accesories i have on the less these lights work, i love having my a/c on, but this is a safty hazard and i dont liek getting pulled over. i just got the squential box replace cuz my other one wouldnt light up the third bulb on one side no matter what i did.

if i run relays with source power my trunk battery(for amps), think this woudl help?.
low current fans? what to do?
this is so upesting, im so confused and now frustrated on all of this, i love the squnetials and the a/c, what do i sacrafice? i haven't even turned on my headligths to see what it does with all of this, i have al silverstar lights up front and the pul a lil more current then standard.

Sounds like the alternator can't handle the load... Time for the 3G upgrade...

I agree sounds like an ampacity problem. Most likely if your running that kinda load
A/C, stereo,lights etc your pushing the capacity to the limits.. You could try putting a 1 farad capacitor inline of your main amp cables, that will lessen the load on you alternator a bit,but I think the upgrade would be a definite option for the future
i do have a 3g 130 amp alternator. thast why im upset, i aded the 3g a few years back.
i r4ecently added the second battery when the amp would dim my lights at a stop.
anythign else?

check your grounds...Check ground size for Amps,how big is the stereo?
700 watt amp with 12in audibahn./

when i did all this testing witht eh turnsignals the stereo was off.
il check my alternator today see if maybe i havwe a bad diode.
its cooled off here today only a high of 80 or so so ill keep the a/c off for now.

Monitor system voltage with a DMM to see what it is with stereo, AC, headlights/tail/brake lights. Check voltage at tail/brake lights. Check alt output voltage at output stud on alt.

What size wire do you have running from the battery to power the stuff in the trunk? If it's too small that could be part of your problem. The other side of the coin, as has been mentions, is grounds. Verify that they are not merely good, that they are excellent.

checked grounds, foudn that my battery groudn has soem corrosion, but il fix that shoortly, next ot my findings. and 4awg wire goign form the front to the back with a fuse up front, one before abttery, and two after batter going to each amp. second woen isnt wired in completely.
testing voltage with a/c, brake lamps, head lights both fans on, blower fan on high and doors open and STEREO OFF, enigne at 2700rpm im getting 13.05 volts out of alternor and at both batteries. BUT!!!! at the brake lamps im only seeing 10.53 volts, with evrtyhtign off im about 14.5 volts at idle.
now my father was out there with me testing all this tonight and asked about my system sentry and the lamp out warning, dont i have a resitance wiing that moniters that? he states that may have somethign to do with it.

im going to to try putting in two relays in the back, one for each side, to relay power so i get 13volts at the squential box. if this fixes it im leaving it. im also goign to put on the stock size alternaor pulley 9 the 3g 130 amp alt i got has a big pulley acting as a underdrive) and repalcign ym ground cables with a seal one that doesnt have one of those 99 cent terminals on it.
i'll get to the bottom of this,
also goign to tes tmy alternor with a load tester at work, that may have died or about tooo,

any other ideas on this?
