YAHOO!!! I'm now an owner of a 140-mph speedo! Question? My TBird I want to put this in has more mileage on the odometer, so I want to match (increase) the mileage on the 140 speedo. Ford dealership states they would have to send it out to a 3rd party and they might be able to do it, for a fee of course. However, can't I just open it up and increment the numbers to match was on my TBird?

What do you'all think?
I sent a speedo to Jeff Korn for the 140 mph upgrade, and he reset the milage to what I needed. I had another speedo apart and played with the milage on it, just to see how to do it. It has been awhile since I did it, so I don't remember the details. Not a rocket scientist job.
Cool, I'll try out with another one i have.
I figured it out. Once you remove the speedo faceplate there are basically two assemblies. Remove 3 screw and then separate the two. Then you'll have your odometer number wheels on top exposed and the trip meter on the bottom exposed. They are spring loaded so you would have to work it like an abacus. (Chinese calculator) pulling and turning the each wheel to the number you want, working from left to right.
I just pop out the rod that locks the number wheels in place, set the mileage to whater I want, and put the locking rod back in.
What is wrong with just swaping the two odometers out. That is what I did and it worked fine, 60K and still ticking.

That's what I did! Work perfectly now. Jim B I wanted to match the mileage on the car I was putting it in. It was off around 50K + miles.
