Wow.. I had no idea so many were built! I guess since the newest ones are 14 years old, not that many are on the road now.

Interesting how the number of TCs shot up in 88, as I recall the new-for-89 MN12 platform was getting lots of publicity. I thought most people would hold out for the 89 T-Bird and not buy as many 88s. Are there any numbers on how they sold when the MN12s came out?
Don't forget the turbocharged '84 - '86 Mercury Cougar XR-7's.

1984: 6,171 of 131,190 Total Cougar production
1985: 7,860 of 117,274 Total Cougar production
1986: 6,504 of 135,904 Total Cougar production

It would be nice to get a more thorough breakdown of Turbo Coupes & XR-7's by car color, transmission, options, etc. Detailed production breakdowns per model are practically impossible to get from Ford.

A friend of mine owns a Dodge Daytona IROC R/T. He talked to a guy who works at one of the plants that builds Caravans and this guy was able to get him a computer printout of every IROC R/T ever built (they only made about 500 of these in '92 & '93). His car is red with red leather interior and from this printout he was able to determine that his car was only 1 of 6 cars built this way !

I'm sure that this kind of documentation exists at Ford too, but I have never seen or heard of them releasing such info, except for the late model Mustang Cobra's.

Pete,

They came from the book "Mercury Cougar 1967-1987" by Gary Witzenburg.
It's a very nice book, however I have found some incorrect information in it.
The production numbers published in this book correspond with two other books that I have so it appears that they are correct.
