I'm getting a nasty vibration at speeds above 50 mph. It seems to be only when it is out of gear and coasting (i.e. minimal torque on the drive line). I can kinda hear a clunking noise coming from the back side of the tranny. I'm thinking that it is (hopefully) the u-joints, although it could be the bearing in the end of the tranny???

I was just wondering if you guys had run into this before. Thanks for all the help.

I just changed the u-joint on the driveshaft near the tranny & started to get a vibration at 50 mph when I did the clutch a month ago. I bet that is your problem.

Check the rubber mounted cylinderical vibration damper on the front of the driveshaft. It is on the DS where the DS goes into the tranny tailshaft. They are known to come loose, or come completely disconnected from the DS, and cause severe vibration problems.

I had vibrations above 50 too but I dont think that there was a noise, anyway, It turned out to be the bolts comming out of the driveshaft where it connects to the differential. That might or might not be it but it never hurts to check
