Would there be a downside to installing the valve in the passenger compartment so it could be adjusted on the fly? Would the long length of the vacuum hose to the WGA cause any lag in it's operation?
I'd say yes. It won't be too ridiculous, but it will contribute to boost spikes and possible inconsistencies in WG opening. If it's just for daily driven fun, go ahead, don't worry about it. But you might want to set it a couple psi lower than your desired boost to compensate for possible spikes.
you want that hose to be as short as possible

in 3 years, I've never adjusted it once. Just set it up, threw it in, and that's it. It's hard to adjust on-the-fly, especially since you need wrenches to adjust it.

IMO if you adjust it on the fly it won't be long till you post about what's involved in a head gasket fix. In a race it will be too easy to adjust it too far.

I really wasn't thinking about adjusting it for a race...there's just some weeks that I can't afford premium gas and I thought I'd be cool not to have to pop the hood every time I fill up. Oh well...
There are other brand of controllers besises the Gillis, and they can be adjusted from inside.

Too much fun, what's that mean? That's like too much boost, there's no such thing.
