ok guys i just had my power steering pump burn out on me... i cracked a rack line and drained all the fluid so i can at least turn the car.. just wondering if anybody has R&R'd or runs thier cars with no pump at all... tryin to see how big of a pain and maybe what length belt works if you dont have your PS pump on...

Another thing... i had to drive the car 5 miles with the fluid in it and the steering column worked loose.... am i gonna hafta tear into the column to tighten it back up or is it a support bracket thats came loose??

Thanks fella's

I'd check the support bolts (nuts) under the dash before getting into the column.

Unless your in training for the world weight lifting title, I can't imagine driving one of these w/o PS. To remove the pump you will need a puller to get the pully off.

Just take the screws out of the plastic cover on the column and on the bottom u will see 4 10mm bolts going up toward the top, tighen these up u should be ok. As Pete said remove the pulley on ps unit, remove the bolts on the bracket and lines then replace it!
Pete,

well heh i was/am a weightlifter so the manual steering isnt a problem... no car ive ever owned had it... better feedback heh. plus its getting skinnies in the spring.

so i gotta have a puller to get the pump off huh?? that sucks... Thanks Fella's
