Anyone have the location of the horn relay on an 87TC? According to the Haynes manual it should be behind the dash near the glove box. Looking at the wiring diagram it should have a Y/LB wire coming from the flash to pass relay then tied internally to the coil and the output terminal. The output side should be a Y/LG wire to the steering column and a heavier DB wire to the horns. I have found the flash to pass relay and tried to trace the Y/LB wire to the relay but can't find it. The Y/LB wire should T off the horn relay to the fuel door release switch. I can find this but can't seam to trace the wires completely from the flash to pass relay to the fuel door switch. The horn relay should be somewhere between these two. Any help will be greatly appreciated
Keep looking, it's there - you are in the right approximate place. However it's been a few years since I was under there and connecting the alarm to it (like 19!) so I'm a
little fuzzy on the exact location.
Good luck!
The EVTM says under the left side of the instrument panel but doesn't give any further information as to location.
DonH, When the EVTM says left are we talking driver side? Also does it show wire colors? The flash to pass relay is near the steering colmn and there are several others in that area but the wire numbewrs and colors don't match what I have from the Haynes manual.
My EVTM showes "RH side of IP". There is a diagram of some relay and warning indicator modules locations on pg 130 of the 1988 EVTM.
Retired, I sent you some diagrams and a picture of the relay location. I think ????? it's above the glove box opening.
Pete thanks don't know what I'd do without you. After I removed the glovebox door I finally found it. Of coarse most of the problam was that my dubm A mounted a couple of relays on the same braket when I put in my alarm/remote door opener. Ford got to love them. The relay sits almost next to the fuel door button but the wiring runs back into a loom and around to get to the relay. Well, if I ground the relay the horn works so looks like pull the steering wheel and clean the contact rings probably fix my cruise control too. Anyone know the bolt size needed for the steering wheel puller? It looks like maybe 8X1.5 or 1.75.
Thanks Pete. I wrote in a correction in the 87 EVTM.
