I just finished tonight, theres a plastic filter in behind the red plastic. I cut it up and kept the piece on the back up lights. It looks awesome when i painted the inner housing chrome. Is there any downside do doing this? I'm going to reseal the units soon but is it going to cause problems. My 'rear light out' light is on but all of them are working. Does the car know what i've been up too or am i crazy?
Could you get a pic? I'd like to see what you are talking about.
pics soon to come - maybe i'll even make a little step by step thing, i think its a very cool mod and it doesnt cost a thing but time and a little spray paint! Basically, if you take your tailight out with the 5 nuts, you can pry the lens housing away from the reflector housing. Then you can gently pop off the inner plastic filter. Keyword here 'gently'
Rear light out could be a bad connection back at one of the bulbs. I have that indicator come on once in a while myself, but never long enough to completely troubleshoot. I have found that wiggling wires back there does make it come and go, though.

sorry for the long wait. i like the look, the tail light assembly is pretty easy to reseal with some silicon. i also have a neon blue light across the top of the windshield, two blue leds mounted above the cd player pointed down, two more in the back where the lights are, i modded them up a little bit. i painted the whole thing black, drilled a hole thru the middle for the led. looks pretty swank i think, plus i dont have interior or door lock lights because it shorted out two years ago and i havent been able to find the stupid wire. i also have two more blue lights in the grill, hooked up to my fog lights. i dont know, i think its cool - but im young and stupid. opinions? if the pic sucks i can take it again, let me know.
