IF ANYONE HAS THE INSTRUMENT PANEL REGULATOR FOR AN '88 THAT WORKS, AND CAN BEAT FORDS PRICE OF $40, IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
I KNOW, I KNOW, I SHOULD POST THIS IN THE "WANTED FORUM", BUT I THINK MORE PEOPLE LOOK IN HERE!!!
Got one from CARQUEST for $23.00+tax part# VRC606 Cluster VR. Was for my 88 Hope This Helps

I am not certain what is wrong with your voltage regulator but if it is the usual reading high at some times you might want to consider doing the solid state one that a lot of the guys here have done.

it does not read anything at all!! i'll probably just get a new one for now, and the build the solid state one that is in the tech section
