Okay, I'm not looking for comfort, I'm looking for performance. What is the best sport shock/strut combo for our cars that you can get at a local parts store (autozone, pep boys) without special order or any of that "we don't carry parts for that car" crap. Just basic, "getable" stuff that performs well. And what do I ask for? Any ideas?

C'mon, no one knows if there is anything that can easily be gotten from your friendly everyday parts store that performs well? Somebody... ???

Kev
Kev,

Try to find KYBs. I know they used to make them for the T-Birds. KYBs are probably the stiffest, low cost shocks/struts you can buy.

Just get some Monroe Sentra-tra. They are probablt the stiffest you can get off a shelf!
I have a set of KYBs on my 86 Tbird 5.0, and the ride is similar to an 87-88 TC with the PRC set to firm, or maybe very slightly stiffer.

Keep the PRC's, unless of course you need to replace. I had Monroe Sensecraps on the front of my car when i bought it and i just replaced it with some used PRC's and man...much much better. I'd go with stiffer springs before shruts if you wanted the car firmer IMO.
I live in the northeast and theres potholes everywhere. I'm i the last TC owner that like the option of turning firm ride off and turning the car into a flying living room? I never realized there would be such a big different between the two modes untill i got the PRC system complete again. I applaude ford for making a car that can be luxary or performance at the flic of a switch.
Stiffer springs instead, huh? How's that Eibach deal coming along?

Kev
Is there any lowering spring availible for the TC?
