320HP Turbo 4 in a FOCUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is nuts! The late '60 hp wars are nothing compared to what they are putting out today, technology amazes me!
Is that engine even remotely related to our 2.3L TC engines?

lol Probably just the fact that it is a 2.3l and it is turbo. I would guess that it has direct injection with some kind of twin cam set up. Our 2.3 had so much potential and Ford just abandoned it.
What I was referring to is the new 2.3L evolved from the old 2.3L block that Ford has used for a long time? I seem to remember reading that our 2.3L block formed the bases for the engines used in the Ranger and some other vehicles for some time after it was dropped from the T-Bird.
The 2.3 and 2.5 were used in the Rangers up until 2001. The engiines total life span in passenger vehicles was 27 years. IIRC, it was (is?) used in industrial applications for a number of years after it dissappeared from the vehicle lineup. I'd consider that a good long run. I wouldn't consider that being abandoned. Was it developed to it's fullest potential? Probably not.
I like the SVO idea. It would handle great and 50/50 weight would be no problem. The only thing would be that engine moving a piggy Mustang around. They would need to put it on a diet unless they are planning on a smaller lighter Mustang coming out before then.
Guess that took 30 years... i hope its fast.

I agree with you, Jeff. I love the idea of a new SVO(especially being a former owner) but the weight will have to come down. Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing a 3.5 ecoboost(Taurus SHO or F-150) mated to a six speed manual. It wouldn't be hard for Ford to get 400hp out of it and keep the balance in check.
Answering lonestars comments, the new 2.3L is only similar in displacement to our 2.3L turbocoupes is my guess. I"m thinking the block architecture is totally different.
