Anybody know if the 18x9 w/5.98" backspacing will fit an 87/88 with sn95 spindles, rotors, axles, etc.? Also, what would be the biggest tire that could be run on a stock ride height? I would think 275/40s would fit in the rear, but I can't see that working up front....
Anybody?
Those are larger wheels than most of us run I think.....
I have 18" 4 lug Cobra R's with standard offset on mine. I have 255/40's front and 265/40's on the back. No rubbing problems at all. The fronts stick out just a little bit though...
Paul,

Kind of hard to answer your question because too many variables. You'd be lucky if someone here had the exact same combination.

I am running 17 x 9 +20mm Cobra R 4 lugs with 245/45 up front and 275/40 out back.

But since you are talking 18 x 9, have different axles, etc etc etc, this information is about useless.
if you carefully measured ALL your clearances with whatever wheel/tire you have currently on the car

THEN figure out how much taller / wider / offset the proposed combo is,

you SHOULD be able to determine if the proposed combo would work; simplistically, if you have 1" clearance between your current tire and the fenderwell, then certainly you cant run a 2" wider tire ;

do a search on "wheel offset calculator" there are numerous widgets on the web to help figure out how different wheel widths and offsets move the bead surfaces in / out

as kevin pointed out, theres too many variables .. with your unique combo, only you can answer the question

why you wanna run such big wheels / tires anywayz ? only makes you slower .. Wink
Appreciate the responses guys. I haven't actually chose what route to go with on the 5 lug swap yet, but I am leaning towards all sn95 Cobra stuff as its getting pretty cheap now.

David, I want to run 18" because I just think they fill out the wheel wells so much better on our cars. I'll always keep a couple sets of snowflakes around (hell I have 5 sets) mounted with slicks/drag radials and skinnies etc. for strip duty.
Imagine the rollout you'd have with rims of that size Smile
I have 18 x 8's 4 lugs (similar style to cobra r wheels made by voxx) with 245 40's and they are awesome. Car handles rediculously good. Dont remember the offset. Mine is also lowered an inch (eibach springs). If that helps.
