The weather was real nice here today, for SE WI, that is... temps in the mid 40s, so time to do some work in the garage. First project: replace driver power window motor in my daughters car. Disassemble door, remove old motor, only to find that Rock Auto had sent me the pass side motor, not the drivers side. Reassemble door without motor so she can go to work. Give Rock Auto a call, and they E mail me a prepaid Fedex shipping label to return it. Hop in the TC to head over to the nearest Fedex Kinkos to ship it back. I come out of the Fedex Kinkos and notice antifreeze leaking out from somewhere on the driver side. I'm only about 4 miles from home, so I get in the TC and drive home, keeping a close watch on the coolant and oil temps. Make it home no problem. Discover the "U" hose is split and leaking bad at the lower intake bung. Get the part # for the hose from the part number forum, and head over to the local NAPA, only to find out it is now discontinued, and none are available. Back home to measure the bung diameter, and head out to another parts store to get a piece of generic 3/8" hose. Go home and replace the hose, refill with antifreeze, and start the TC. Hit the garage door opener button to go for a drive to verify the repair. Hear a loud bang. One of the garage door springs has broken, and the door wont go up. Go to hardware store to buy new springs. Get back home only to discover the cables are frayed. The new springs came with new cables, but upon assembly, I find the cables are 2 feet too short. Back to hardware store to buy some bulk cable. Back home to finish the garage door repair. Decide not to work on any other projects today, as I am cold and sore, and have had enough of dealing with Murphys Law for the day. Also decide the ice cold beer in the frig is looking real inviting.
i have had one of those days. had a crappy day at work, came home to find out my gf is pregnant..that was 10 weeks and 6 days ago..
Jeff, Murphys other law - no good deed goes unpunished. Enjoy the beer, you deserve it.
LOL
And it started out with nice weather!

Something philosophical I read yesterday:

"If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back."

Here's hoping tomorrow is a better day.
Jeef, that was actually a lucky day. The weather was nice, you got a free shipping label, the door will come apart easier next time, you got home in daylight without calling a tow truck, and when the spring broke it didn't take out your windshield. Plus you have beer in the house.

Onward and upward.
Great post DonH. I've BTDT. Years ago, days like that really set me off. Older & mellower, I can finally chuckle and move on. Funny part is that most of those days begin and end working on my TC.

I've noticed it often works that way Big Grin
I think of them as adventures and necessary evils.

If Rock Aut hadn't shipped you the wrong part, your TC would still be leaking but would it be in the parts store parking lot 3 miles from home or somewhere worse?

If you didn't need to take the TC for a test spin, then the door would have broken on your wife during some bad weather in the middle of your favorite show or project and/or 2nd beer.

Wait..who needs to roll a window down this time of year?? I think your daughter is up to something Big Grin

But in the daughter's defense it has been more like spring that winter. Aren't the T-bird window motors opposite? All other fords use our driver on passenger and Vice/Versa! I ordered both so it didn't matter!
It's always good to remember the addage "I complained about having no shoes, until I saw the man with no feet!

Happy and Healthly New Year to You and Yours!
