ive been looking around, and seeing how youre supposed to mount the DSM bypass on a flange thats generally welded to the IC or the IC piping

now, is i possible to just drill the large hole in the IC, and 2 smaller mounting holes, and throw a gasket on there?

There isn't a lot of thickness for bolts or screws to thread into in the IC. What some of us have done is use plumbing fittings (3/4 - 1"approx) for the IC, then attach some hose to that and clamp the valve in the hose. Run hose off the other side of the valve back to the intake tract before the compressor inlet.

Drill a hole in the IC slightly smaller than the fitting, then size it so the fitting is kind of a interference fit then JB Weld it in place
so no tapping theads huh? just a nice friction fit, and JB weld? i like that idea

For the DSM1 though, you're still going to need a flange with a hose nipple to do it that way. It'd be easy enough to fab one up if you have a little patience.

reason i asked about the DSM one is because it had that flat flange that i thought would allow me to bolt it right to the side of the IC

I think it would work fine if you took a grease pencil and traced around the mounting flange on the DSM1, and marked your bolt holes. Drill and tap your bolt holes, and drill out your main hole for the valve. Run a small bead of JBWeld around the perimeter of the flange and dab some on the threads of your bolts. Mount it, tighten it down firmly- being careful not to strip the threads- and you should be permanent once the JBWeld cures.

how thick are the IC tanks?
