Finally got the T3 and the wastegate hooked up. My car has never been so fast. I got the A237 cam and my car will pull hard and hit the redline like nothing. I am only running about 11psi right now, because I'm waiting to install my 255lph pump and pressure regulator before I blow anything up. The IHI spools much quciker, but it doesnt have anything on this turbo. The T3 is a beast, the IHI would die at about 4500rpms. The turbo swap is highly recommended. Now I need a bigger exhaust to speed up the spooling. How much boost can you run with 89 octane? I have almost stock timing and the knock sensor is still installed.
Got to love the T3. Wait until you get that exhaust opened up, and put some real boost to it, you might want to have an extra pair of shorts if you are impressed now Big Grin

Search on Mike Pinto's recent posts. There is some info in his recent threads about running a T3 on weak gas. I could run 20 psi all the time on my T3 and 94 sunoco Wink

Bob Myers
just curious what T3 are you using? Im working on that upgrade right now as well with a fmic setup. Glad you like makes me look forward to it
I have a Merkur air research T3. Its oil and water cooled, but I haven't hooked up the coolant lines yet. I'm definitely gonna hook it up, that turbo gets really hot, even if I dont get on it.

Kind of hard to say. With the KS conencted you can "theoretically" run as much as you like. The KS may not like it though and pull timing on you. I wouldn't think any more than 15-16#....if that.

It's not apples to apples, but in my Ranger 2.3T I was running 16# on 89 octane w/ no KS. (IHI, SPDIS (fixes timing at 10* BTDC), intercooler, PC1 ECU, yada, yada). Never made a peep, but the 10* timing would probably have something to do with that as well as the not overly aggresive ECU.

The LA ECUs are pretty aggressive timing-wise
