On an 87TC, the instrument lamp line is hot (positive voltage). Ground one side of your bulb and connect the other to the inst lamp line and you'll be all set.
Can't vouch for other years but I imagine they'd be the same.

Joe is right. Every Ford I have ever seen is positive dimmer.
