how can you test a wastegate without boosting? I cant seem to fix this "leak". If i jump on it it boosts fine for a second then it bucks and stutters. A/F is ready rich, so Im pretty sure it isnt fuel. All my hoses are tight and I replaced my adapter gasket with real gasket material this time. I fixed my coolant leak and hooked up the ground to the turbo as well and it i running the same way. any ideas?
What about plug gap?yopu may be having some spark blowout or maybe you need new plug wires?
plugs were replaced no more then two months ago. It still sounds like something is leaking. Im not even sure on what I gapped them at. and it does it even if I slowly build boost

I don't think this is a WG problem, or at best the WG may be only part of the problem. If you are thinking the WG is opening, causing the bucking and struttering, I don't think it quite that situation.
Assuming all else is proper, if the WG was opening, you would lose the extra power from boost but I think it would be a smooth loss of power, not stuttering and bucking.

If you are going by the readings of a narrow band 02, that does not mean the mixture is "absolutely" rich. It only means it is slightly rich relative to stoich. It does not mean it is rich as in the range needed to "make power" like when in the boost. Put a fuel pressure gauge on it that can be seen while driving and find out if the is happening to fuel pressure while in the boost. Anything else is guessing at this point. Are you sure a cracked hose isn't opening up when the boost hits. That will cause some great bucking.
Sounds like my car with a loose IC hose. Try to pressurise the intake if you can, that will show every leak you could ever have.
fixed it.and all I have to say is OMG, this thing is going to be eating tires like you wouldnt believe. I cant wait to make this burn out video.

b/c the adapter raises the IC about 2 inches I had to cut the IC intake pipe. When I cut it at 11:30 last night I cut it a bit to hi and the hose wasnt making a good seal. So I took my spare TC IC and recut it but not taking so much off. the hose fit nice and tight.

This thing sounds sick, in fact in higher gears it feels like it spools quicker then the IHI. It is so loud it is nuts. Car runs cooler as well Iguess since the turbo is more effeciant. I also had to back out the gillis quite a bit.
Just watch those headgaskets now!
Sorry to bring up an old thread instead of starting a new on but, My wastegate arm is rattling on the wastgate flapper rod. I have a snap ring on it but it is still making noise. Am I missing a part ont here or something? nothing came on the turbo or wastegate.
Brian, check out Pete's post here.

It just sounds like you have to put a little spring pressure on the waste gate. If you have an adjustable rod it's simple. If not you may be able to bend the WGA bracket a little.
yea I kind of figured I was gonna have to bend it, I just wasnt sure if there was something supposed to be on the arm end itself.
